Design to manufacture, in six stages
We take a product from its first specification to parts in production. You can bring us in at the start, or at whichever stage you have reached.
- 01
Specification
What the product has to do, survive and cost, agreed before anyone designs it. You leave with a specification in measurable terms.
- 02
Concept
Several ways to solve the problem, sketched and costed, and one chosen with reasons. You leave with a chosen concept, with the reasons.
- 03
Detail & Simulation
The full 3D design, shaped for its manufacturing process and proven by analysis where it carries risk. You leave with a production-intent 3D design, proven where it matters.
- 04
Engineering Pack
Drawings, models, parts list and process notes that a supplier can quote and build from. You leave with drawings, models and a parts list suppliers can quote from.
- 05
Prototype & Test
A prototype or pilot build, tested against the specification before tooling money is spent. You leave with prototypes and test results against the specification.
- 06
Production
Parts made by the right process and supplier, with changes handled once the product is selling. You leave with parts in production, and changes handled after launch.
Ways to work with us
- The whole programme
- From a first specification to parts in production, with one engineering team accountable all the way through.
- A single stage
- A concept study, a simulation, a drawing pack or a prototype, for a product your own team is developing.
- A product already in production
- A part that fails, distorts or costs too much to make, traced to its likely cause and changed.
Case studies
Removal tooling for a legacy offshore wellhead
More than 15 critical interface and legacy-data uncertainties resolved.
Stages 01 to 04Material handling equipment for bulk and construction use
Over 50% more material handling throughput in high-rise construction.
Stages 02 to 04A prototype green hydrogen system, ready for fabrication
Fabrication and installation drawings for the whole prototype.
Stages 02 to 04A lighter line of high-end fishing reels
Over 15% lighter than the original designs, with no loss of durability.
Stages 02 to 05Why a thin aluminium disc warped, and how to stop it
A likely cause, traced to how the part is made, and the changes that address it.
Stage 06
Practical questions
Can you work with our existing CAD data?
Yes. We design in Autodesk Inventor and work from STEP and most native formats, so your models and drawings can be the starting point. Paper drawings can be converted to CAD first.
Can you take on one stage rather than the whole programme?
Yes. Some clients bring us the whole product. Others bring us in for a concept study, simulation, a drawing pack or production support on one part of a wider programme.
What kind of companies do you work with?
Product companies, OEMs and manufacturers with a product to develop and a budget committed to it.
Where are you based?
Glasgow. We work with companies across the UK and abroad, mostly remotely, with site visits where the project needs them.
How do we get started?
Send a few lines through the form about the product, where it is today and what it needs to achieve. An engineer will reply to arrange a conversation.
