04Engineering Pack
An engineering pack your suppliers can quote and build from
Detailed manufacturing drawings, 3D models, a bill of materials and the manufacturing process, prepared so a supplier can price the job and make it without coming back with questions.
A good design can still be let down by its drawings. Missing tolerances, unclear datums and notes that read differently to different suppliers lead to wrong parts, padded quotes and arguments about who was right.
The pack sets out each part and assembly, the tolerances that matter and the general ones that cover the rest, materials and finishes, and how it is to be made. For fabricated equipment it can include general arrangements, weld details, pipe spools and installation drawings. If the design only exists on paper, we convert it to CAD first.
What you leave with
- Part and assembly drawings
- Fully dimensioned, with tolerances set by function and process.
- A bill of materials
- Every part, material and bought-out item, ready for purchasing.
- Manufacturing notes
- Materials, finishes, process and assembly information in one place.
- Files suppliers can use
- Native CAD, STEP and PDF, so quoting and programming start from the same data.
Questions this stage answers
Can you produce drawings for a design we already have?
Yes. We can work from your models, or from paper drawings converted to CAD.
Which drawing standard do you work to?
The one you specify. If you don’t have one, we follow common ISO practice and agree it with you first.
Do tighter tolerances make a better part?
They make a dearer one. Each tolerance should be as loose as the function allows, and tight only where it matters.
Can the pack cover installation as well as manufacture?
Yes, for equipment that is assembled on site: general arrangements, installation drawings and assembly details.
Case study
Fabrication and installation drawings for the whole prototype.
A prototype green hydrogen system, ready for fabrication
A client developing green hydrogen production needed a prototype system that could be built straight from the drawings, with pipe routing that kept cost and complexity down.
